Zilliox will give helpful advice for maintaining thyroid wellness

AMHERST — The key to many people’s health complaints is the thyroid, according to Dr. John Zilliox of Positive Health and Wellness PC.
The lecture will be held at 7 p.m. June 13.
“We are going to be talking about the thyroid in general,” Zilliox said. “We will discuss nutritional options, and what your blood work means.”
Zilliox is a clinical nutritionist, as well as a licensed chiropractor and hypnotist, who works with individuals to treat their whole body in regards to a variety of medical issues.
“We design a program for their functional health,” he said. “We are improving the bottom line ... I want to point out that I do not treat the thyroid.”
Zilliox said the majority of the patients he sees are women who vary in age from 25 to 55.
“Most people I see have an issue with their thyroid,” he said. “It is a very high percentage ... We discuss a lot of ways we can help with the condition.”
While Zilliox said the aliment usually strikes women later in life, he has seen teenagers who are also effected.
Forest Medical Group’s Dr. Margaret Mitchell, colleague of Zilliox, said the thyroid is crucial to a person’s whole being because it controls so much inside of the body.
“The thyroid is like the gas pedal on your car,” Mitchell said. “You don’t drive your car with the gas pedal stuck up or down. You want to be able to manipulate it properly.”
Williamsville Public Library librarian Beth Staebell, said the event is free and open to the public.
While registration is not required, Staebell said it would be helpful.
